Total Hysterectomy with DaVinci Robotic assist 7/21/10

I went into the hospital on 7/21/10.  I was scheduled to go in around 11:45am or so.  I ended up going in shortly thereafter.  They prepped me and gave me to good juice and the next thing I remember is waking up screaming in recovery because the pain was so intense.  My nurse was an older woman and had previously had a hysterectomy in which they had to cut her all the way across the belly.  She proceeded to tell me that I should be thankful that I didn't have to get cut all the way across. I told her she was a horrible nurse and she shouldn't tell a woman who just came out of surgery that.  My hormones seemed to go totally crazy (so that sent me into a tailspin thinking my hormones were crazier than before) but they told me that was just me coming off the anesthesia.  Apparently, it was just the anesthesia,  because I got better before they brought me to my room.  If not, I sure don't want to miss any of my Estrace (Estriadiol) 1mg.  I stayed in the hospital overnight and got released sometime after lunch the next day.  I laid around in the recliner for most of the week and got up when I had to pee (which was often due to the catheter).  I did get out of the house and try to go to my neices birthday party.  I got in the pool and then got out quickly due to the steristrips still being in.  I stayed outside a total of about 30 - 40 min and then went into her house to lay down.  I stayed totally exhausted for the most part.  Around Mon. and Tue, I started to feel a little better.  By Tue. I was off of the Hydrocodones (with the exception of one at bedtime) and only took Naproxen.  By Wed, I only took one Naproxen and we went to my moms and I did swim (or I guess you can say floated since I didnt actually exhert energy from my legs much)  When I came out of the water that time, I was wishing I was on pain meds.  It was like a vacuum sucking my belly when I came out of the water.  But, after that I went to sit down in mom's recliner and wasn't nearly as tired as I was when I went for the party a couple days after surgery.  My body has been taking the rest it has needed for so long.  I am so thankful that I have had this surgery.  My real concern now is to keep the hormones leveled.  I haven't been doing so well at keeping the chocolate and caffeine away.  I have been allowing my fleshly cravings to take over at times.  I am hoping that I don't have that hard of a time for long.  I am also not sure if I need any different hormones to go with Estrace or if I will just be taking it alone.  I guess I will ask when I go back next Fri for my appt.
